If you have a Wedding Business and are considering getting a coach or mentor, what you’re probably also wondering is – “Do I really need a business mentor? Can’t I just figure this stuff out on my own? Is it worth it”? 🤔
Investing in a business mentor usually results in quicker growth and larger profit.
In a survey of more than 11,000 small businesses by Sage, 93 percent of small and medium-sized businesses say mentoring can help them succeed. However, only 28 percent are using business mentors. Finding a mentor early in your entrepreneurial career may mean the difference between success and failure.
When you’re building a business from the ground up, there are a thousand things you are working on and a hundred hats you need to be wearing all at once 🎩 You are the CEO, the COO, the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Bookkeeper, the Tax Strategist, the CFO, the CTO, the Production Manager, the Project Manager, the Sales Rep, the workforce, the clean up crew, the Social Media Manager, and the list goes on.
With all of these duties falling on you, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. It can be hard to see the big picture when you are constantly putting on different hats and filling different roles. This is when having a Business Mentor can really help.

Instead of trying to book more weddings and every wedding that comes your way, a Business Coach would could look over the entirety of your wedding planning business and help you to figure out what is and isn’t working. She would ask questions to figure out where the money is and isn’t coming from and come up with ideas on how to increase profit in a way that best works for you. She would help you to clarify your messaging and clean up your brand so that you start attracting more of the Brides and Grooms who are your ideal weddings. Then she’d show you how to create processes and systems to book more of these ideal weddings more easily. This would allow you to raise prices and increase your overall profitability. It would make your wedding planning business feel more fun, more simple and easy.
How to choose a Business Coach or Mentor?
If you’re considering a business coach or mentor, you want to choose someone who has done the same thing you’re trying to do, but who has already achieved your end goal. They’ve personally walked the path you are walking and they understand first hand what the struggles are and how to overcome them because they’ve overcome them themselves.
If you’re trying to build a wedding photography business and have a goal of making over a $100,000 a year, you are going to want to hire a Business Coach who ideally has had a wedding business, who understands the wedding industry specifically and who has experienced building businesses past the six figure mark. You want to also look at this coaches business style and feel connected to this as well. How does she look at money, at finances, at her business? Does she live a lifestyle that you would love to be living, how did she do it, what does she know that you don’t? What can she show you that you otherwise wouldn’t see?
These are all things a business coach can bring. She can bring strategy and help you design a plan to expedite the growth of your business but she can also and perhaps this is more important – break down a belief system that is holding you back. At each level of financial growth belief systems need to change. You need to think bigger and differently and you will learn how to step into your authority. This is when the big changes happen, and you cannot get there alone.
Once I started investing in coaching it became clear to me what has been holding me back. I started seeing my businesses differently and focusing on making changes I didn’t even known I was doing that were keeping me stuck. The work was so much different than the work I thought I needed to do. Little shifts in perspective and direction that allowed me to start to become more of the badass I always knew I was but didn’t really understand how to step into.
It took me years to decide coaching was worth investing in. I wish I would have done it sooner but I don’t think I was ready. You need to be really ready to make big changes. Ready to do the work. Ready to go all in on yourself, on your business, on your goals. And if you’re there, coaching can skyrocket your results. It can be the one thing that you’ve been missing. It can change everything for you 💫
